About the Rotate PDF

A document fed into a scanner the wrong way, or photographed in landscape, comes out sideways — and the rotation you apply in a PDF reader usually is not saved. Reopen the file and it is sideways again, because the reader only turned the view.

This writes the rotation into the document itself. Every viewer, every printer and everyone you send it to sees it the same way up, because the page's own orientation has changed rather than one program's idea of it.

Scanned bundles are rarely uniformly wrong, so you can rotate specific pages rather than the whole file. Tap the ones facing the wrong way, or type their numbers; leave the selection empty and the whole document turns. Rotations also stack, so pressing the same button twice really is a half turn.

Nothing is redrawn. Turning a page changes a single number in the document's structure, so text stays selectable, images are bit-for-bit identical, and the file size barely moves. It is the cheapest edit a PDF supports and it costs nothing in quality.

Existing rotation is preserved rather than overwritten — a scan often already carries one, and ignoring it is how a page ends up ninety degrees away from where you wanted it. And, as ever, the file never leaves your device.

How to use the Rotate PDF

  1. Add your PDF

Drop it in. The thumbnails show which pages are facing the wrong way.

  2. Choose the pages, if only some are wrong

Tap them or type their numbers. Leave the field empty to turn the whole document.

  3. Turn them

Left, right or upside down. Press again to keep going — the turns add up.

  4. Download

The rotation is written into the file, so it holds everywhere rather than only in your reader.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my PDF reader forget the rotation?
Most readers rotate the view rather than the document, so the change lasts until you close the file. This writes the orientation into the PDF itself, which is why it survives being saved, sent and reopened elsewhere.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes, and with a scanned bundle that is usually what you want. Tap the pages facing the wrong way, or type their numbers. Leaving the selection empty rotates the whole document.
Does rotating lose any quality?
None at all. A rotation changes one value in the page's description — nothing is redrawn or re-compressed, so text stays selectable and images are byte-for-byte identical.
What if a page is already rotated?
The existing rotation is kept and yours is added to it, which is how a page that was already at 90° ends up where you expect rather than somewhere else entirely.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The rotation is applied in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
